This series of photographs was taken during August in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The city is undergoing rapid economic development as unprecedented amounts of coal, gold, copper and rare earth deposits have been discovered across the Mongolian countryside.

These photographs document some of the variety of buildings that are either a legacy of the Soviet infrastructure or a response to the new economy.
